Travelling has been a passion of mine since childhood and at the age of 18 I decided to go on my first little solo adventure to Warsaw just weeks before starting university.
I started this blog originally in 2020 with the intention of travelling to 100 countries before I turned 30. Three years later I have only been to one new country thanks to the pandemic and I have decided it is time for a rebrand.
While many things have prevented me from travelling in a way that I would like to – from COVID to studying to being in a committed relationship – I have decided to take charge and make 2023 and beyond about going on adventures, experiencing new cultures and stepping outside of my comfort zone.
My name is Megan, the voice behind Life in Postcards, and I am a student journalist from the UK.

This blog will still focus on my adventures, but with more of a focus on people, cultures and experiences as I use the skills I am learning on my master’s degree to really enhance my writing. My goal is to become a full-time travel writer and my absolute dream is to be published in Lonely Planet one day.
How do I travel?
One of the most important expectations I think can be set with a travel blog is what kind of travel you can expect to be reading about.
Generally, I am a budget backpacker who prefers a hostel dorm over a hotel room, however I am willing to spend money on an experience instead of missing out.
I solo travel and also travel with my boyfriend so there will be a combination of both styles written on here depending on the destination.
I am a vegetarian but will still try my hardest to find local dishes to try to immerse myself fully in the culture I am in and will hopefully be able to write about vegetarian options in countries. I have experienced the stress of not being able to eat anything when you visit somewhere new first hand.
I have not gone on any multi-country trips yet and have only done day trips when visiting several cities however I do not like flying and will avoid it where possible if there are affordable train and bus options.
